"Contrasts Between Industry and Academia in Chemistry"

Within the past 10-15 years there have been major changes in how research is conducted in industry and, to a lesser extent, in academia. The shifts in emphasis and some implications for the careers of scientists will be discussed. The opportunities for new directions in the chemical sciences will also be considered.
